Open air run

I have an 1/8 acre available to enclose for an open area run. Right now it's mostly sand, dirt and weed. There are some good sections of tall bushes that should provide protection from hawks. Is there any specific type of ground that might be best for chickens? Should I try to plant grass there? Is there anything I should do to the area to get it ready for my four chicks?

If you plant grass they will either eat the seeds or eat the grass anyway. I would leave it be and keep the bushes, etc. as hidey-holes. Have fun!
