Can I use iodine on open chicken wounds?

A picture of the wound would help. I would be more inclined to coat with an antibiotic ointment.

Iodine on an open wound would be a bit strong. I'd clean with running warm warm, disinfect with sprayed on Vetericyn, let dry then coat with triple antibiotic ointment. Pictures of the injury will help.
