We just use a common latch with the metal plate that goes over the metal “loop” meant for a keyed or combination lock. Instead of the lock we use a carabiner clip for ease. However, apparently some raccoons can figure those out in time, but I don’t think that is common for wild raccoons so I’m just going to stick with it.
