Whats the pros and cons of open-front coops?

I'm thinking about building one, thanks for any pics and info.

Patandchickens did an excellent review of the open front coop design. Just search here under "Fresh Air Poultry Houses."

Bottom line, if you have cold winters, this design is probably not going to be good unless your coop is pretty big...not for one of those small backyard type of coops.

I'm in North Texas where are summers are hot, hot, hot. An open sided coop is what I've built for our summers. There's a picture on my BYC page.
