Open, Infected Sore on Breastbone

I have tree branches in my run, but in my coop they roost on 1x10 windowsills/shelves (covered in sawdust), and a 1x4 board. Why do you ask?
Sometimes with very large girls, when they roost there breast bone with rub on the roosts and create a sore like that. My brahma was getting a bit irritated in that area so I rounded the corners of my roosts more, no more issues

Ah... I see. Yes, my girls are, ahem... full bodied...🤭 Maybe I should get them onto the treadmill - apparently scratching and pecking isn’t enough 🤔. Thank you!

Great advice! Just curious what kind of roosts do you have?
Mixed, depending on where & when built. Initially I used large 2" dowels in the coop, and made a couple of roosts out of large branches for the run. My more recent coops I use 2x3 on their side (so they perch on the 3" side. Many people use 2x4, but these last 2 smaller coops were to be mobile, and I was trying to cut weight wherever I could.
