If its been 21 days so it ought a be dev by now an its movin around it should be ok. You've broke the shell too so it'll prob come out soon whether its ready or not. If you're not comfortable openin it up then don't an let Mother Nature take its course

I don't know I wouldn't pull it back. The chick will lose lots of blood from the vein. Emma14, the vein is technically still part of the chick, since it circulates its blood. I would try moistening the membrane a bit and keep letting the chick absorb the yolk. It still has a couple days to survive anyway.

Ok my bad I didn't realize the yolk wasn't all the way absorbed. I've busted veins before an it never bothered nothin but they were always ready to hatch an came outta the shell within a few min

Oh really? I tried helping a chick once, broke a vein that wasn't absorbed yet and it bled all over and died within the hour.

Absolutely do not open the membranes on that chick! You see how thick those blood vessels are? That chick is not ready at all to come out. You need to moisten that membrane and put the chick right back in the bator. Make sure the humidity is where it needs to be or it will shrink wrap now. Chicks can hatch 2-3 days later. Make sure the information you have been getting is legit before you follow it. Do your homework honey.

Ok in the groove where the membrane an shell are still attached carefully pull it. Poppin a vein shouldn't hurt the bitty bc it's not a part of the baby's body
