Open Topped Chicken Yards?

Hi, I haven't read the whole thread, but thought I'd suggest a dog kennel to you. If you search there's a bunch of good threads on dog kennels.

Hi. We've never had a problem with Hawks. We see them all the time flying near our yard but they have never given our chickens any problems. We have a 7 foot open-topped run and we've only had a hen fly over the fence once. Even if they do, they will stay near the coop especially if they are by themselves.

Also, young hens tend to fly a lot more than the older ones. Once they get older, they get heavier and want to fly less. But they will if you scare them.
