Opinions about potential calluses on duck's feet?

One of our ducks is healing from bumble foot but the other has these two spots on her feet. They've looked like this for a few months and haven't gotten worse or better; we've been soaking her feet daily in an epsom salt bath and expected to see some change, but haven't. I read in "Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks" that they can get calluses on their feet and the illustration on pg. 283 of the second edition looks very similar to what I see on our girl's feet, I think, so I'm just looking for other folks to weigh in on whether or not we should be concerned. She walks and behaves entirely fine—she has ever since we noticed the spots. I know that's not necessarily proof that all is well, it's only to say that there's been no signs of limping, pain, etc.

Yes, soak for 20 minuets and try and pull out scab with tweezers, or your fingers. Then there will be a hole in the pad, and fill it with Vaseline and vetrycin. Additionally calendula oil if possible. I like the Herb Pharm brand, trauma oil on amazon with this brand will work too! wrapping the foot is difficult, you have to put a cotton ball or gauze pad on top of ht wound and wrap a paper towel around the whole weed foot and over the cause. Now you can use a small sandwhitch bag bu for me that tends to rip way to easy. So I bought some 3 inch paws dog booties! You stretch the bootie over the foot and th egause per towel and secure it to the ankle with vet wrap. Then duck tape the tail of the vet wrap down to keep it from unraveling. I can make you a video tomorrow if that is confusing, assuming you aren't gonna do anything about it tonight. I can post video first thing if needed! Good luck and keep me posted, Avery

I appreciate it! No need to make a video (unless you want to anyway), because we have some of the neoprene duck booties that have worked well in our case. Thank you!

Oh great! I wanted to buy duck booties, but decided to make my own since I couldn't find them on a website I knew I could trust, I have had issues with random websites, What website did you get yours from? Well good luck with the bumblefoot, and keep us posted, Avery

We got ours from Crazy K Farm and didn't experience any problems with the order or shipping—in fact, they shipped a few days earlier than we expected. You can find them here; we ordered the "Medium Waterfowl Bootie Pair" in gray for our anconas (the only breed we had at the time). Thanks again!
