OPINIONS ON THESE BREEDS

I can't in good faith recommend Delawares to anyone because mine were nasty mean. If you get them from a reputable breeder, though, instead of hatchery stock, you might not have that experience. My hen was a great layer of ginormous eggs and often double yolkers...

I have Silver Phoenix and they are wonderful birds. They are calm, quiet and easily tamed. The hens are very consistent layers of tinted eggs that are quite small. Additionally, they are uber easy to hatch, very hardy as chicks and adults.

A warning with the Phoenix. They are a small standard. Never put a Phoenix hen together with a regular standard rooster.

Why don't you look at some of the Spanish breeds. I especially like the cara blancas. They make a large bird and they lay huge white eggs.

I had Pile Leghorn roosters, forgot to mention, that were used as packing peanuts by MM.

They were flighty and MEAN. They fought like dogs amungst themselves and were the first and only bird to ever draw blood on me...

But, they were roos...

About the DELAWARES-I was on the phone with Sandhill and they breed the textbook version of

Delawares-LARGE, CALM birds large eggs lots of DOUBLE YOKES so I would get mine there I heard

are very nice-And SHill will tell you what quality birds they have wether they are good or not so good-

any problems they are having/working on-they are honest! ( Some hatchery got a hold of some

delawares and crossed them with another breed to up production and I believe that it is getting out

and they are not

I love my Delaware's and I've never had a problem with them being aggressive. My Roo Zaxby is the best he has never once attacked me or even thought too. He takes great care of his girls and calls them over to eat and won't even take a bite for himself. They get along great with my other chickens and I even have bantams in with them.

I raise Phoenix and I love them, I have a roo that is finger trained or now arm trained since he is now full sized. He will crow on command and fly from on perch to another on command too. They are beautiful and Non agressive birds Have 4 roos that all live together peacefully for the most part other then the few dominace squabbles but have Never drawn blood.

So Phenixes are out because I have a full sized Amerucana Rooster I will still get the delaware but She will be chicken dumplings if she is the negative type of delaware. Could Campamine & Leghorn Hens hold there own with a Amerucana Roo? I Am Getting 1 buckeye 1 buff orph 1 Barred Rock 1 Domonique and 1 Delaware for sure but I can get a sixth pullet so the choices are.
