Opinions on this coop

I looked into that too, and it seems like really the only problem is cedar shavings, not coops built from cedar.

We started building our own 4x4 coop & run over the weekend and bought much of the wood supplies.. Ouch! We've spent over $350 on materials already (wood, screws, nails, etc) for nice quality plywood, and tons of 2x3's (a bit cheaper than 2x4's).. No hardware to speak of yet.. I can see where these things cost big $$ if you don't have lots of scraps available. In our case, had I bought most of the material from a 'real' lumberyard I would have saved more money -- probably close to $100 would be my guess. YMMV!

What beautiful craftmanship...Cedar in your neck of the woods is good - will not rot with all the moisture. My concern is space and I am glad that you upgraded to a larger plan. More is better.....you have good sized hens and if they cannot freerange (when you are there and watching) they may get bored and start picking etc. Good Luck!
