I was wondering if anyone knows of a chicken breed that is basically opposite of the lakenvelder in coloration? Essentially, it would be a black bird with white tail and white head.

Basically, it would look like this picture that I created:

the closest I could think of is Show Quality Red Shouldered Yokohamas, sometimes they are so dark that they can look almost black from some angles..

Well that stinks... [IMG] I knew it was rare if it did exist at all... Thanks for the reply! They would be absolutely beautiful if they did exist!

    nicalandia,
Could you make one using a black sumatra crossed with the red shoulder yokohamas?

There used to be a color in japanese bantam called white tailed black. If one were able to transplant the white tail genes onto a birchen breed you would come close.
Ever noticed the white tail feathers on black japanese. Everyone selects against that, but if one would select the other way... ;)

    Have you seen these?

If you would add the genes of the darkest RIR that would be interesting too.

What breed is that? Also, how would I go about finding white tailed black Japanese?

I thought the Lakenvelder was supposed to have black neck and tail. Where did you find this picture? I'd love some of those!!!
