Orange Mottled Chicken!

I like Digit and Snowflake the best, but all are pretty. That would be hard for me to decide which to keep and which to "get rid of".

If you get the results your looking for it's worth the effort. Check youtube for a couple of how-to videos.

Yes....and no. We will be doing the AI thing soon, but after this blazing heat is over.

Have you considered adding Russian Orloffs to the project? I really enjoyed my girls mottled/speckled/spangled patterns. I like small to non existent combs, though, and lots of fluffy "accessories" on face and feet, so I've been collecting Cochin EEs, Polish crosses, tufted/rumpless Araucana crosses, etc. All of mine are hens right now, but I will add the perfect roo someday and get started on the next generation!

Yes, but orloffs carry too much black. The black just takes over...BUT, that being said, I have 4 Orloff hens I am going to try and put under a roo that looks just like TT!'s little boy. I amd going to give it a whirl again, if only because I like to hatch. It's an addiction you know.

I am getting some fabulous Aloha chicks over here! The newest babies are looking great!

Our newest member, Derek, in Mesa, is hatching out TONS of babies. He has a giant 'bator, and yes I'm jealous! LOL! But I'm not doing so bad here, with 60 babies hatched out and maybe 20 more due in a week. This project is going GREAT. Things look positive for increasing the size within one year. Our goal of super-big, super-mottled chickens in colors like buff mottled, orange and red mottled, and blue mottled is actually within reach. Crossing my fingers that things continue to do this well. It's been terrific. I have to take some new baby photos, some of them here are looking fabulous.

Here are a few photos of recent ones, too small in size and need heft to body, but check out the fun colors:

My favorite one-month old!

This one is shown at four months, now she is grown and laying, and has a little more white as an adult:

There is still a LOT of work to be done, but for just being at it a couple of years, I couldn't be more pleased! Just going to take time at this point, but so far, it's working great. I originally estimated about three years for this to work, and we are closing in. Of course you can perfect a breed forever, improving egg laying, perfecting leg and feather colors and such, but the main goal just to get the colors WITH the larger full-standard size, I have been estimating at least three years. We are at year two, I think this time next year we might see some truly large size chickens in these fun new colors. Yay!
