Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

It was completely unexpected. She was living in Philadelphia with her toddler daughter, divorced. Then she married her new husband and got pregnant with twins and decided to move to the country. You'd love this book I bet.

Sounds like a good one! With winter coming before long, I'm making a list of reading material for those cozy snow days.

Finn had a FOX encounter about 4 a.m.! I heard a fox alarm barking really close, maybe five or six times, but I opened my eyes and saw a flashlight shining on the deck so I knew my husband was out there and heard him say something to Finn so I didn't get out of bed. This a.m., he told me the story.

He heard a fox in a distance and when he heard it much closer, he went out with his Atomic flashlight to check on the cat. Finn was sitting beside a pile of limbs from my Tim Burton tree whose top had snapped off in some wind (blackjack oak, gnarly thing), which is at the left side of our turnaround at the top of the driveway by the house. Across the driveway was a big red fox looking at Finn. He was only about 20' from Finn. When DH shined the light on it, it hesitated, then ran off and Finn came trotting to the house. DH said Finn was just sitting, didn't seem alarmed or ready to run, which puzzles me. Unfortunately, for some reason, my game camera aimed at the driveway caught no pictures at all, darn it! Angle must have been wrong or something.

Do you suppose Finn has just gotten so used to seeing fox, he isn't alarmed by them any more? Glad there wasn't a 'close encounter' where Finn could have been hurt.

I dunno. I was thinking he'd have been crouched down and ready to run. Maybe his Dad out there with the flashlight made him brave. Yeah, Dad is gonna kick your foxy behind! LOL

Finn has a new title now: King of the Woodpile.
We just built that wood rack with scrap lumber, loaded most of the back row off our own property and someone brought us the top of the back row and all the wood on the front row today. Of course, the Inspector Kitty was on the job immediately.

Looks pretty pleased with himself in that last pic - so cute! Good boy!

He thinks we built a jungle gym just for him. He's been walking around the top since we got it together two days ago. Seems like a good vantage point from which to pounce on something....or to get away from something.
