What is the smallest order minimum ya'll have seen for turkeys? My girls want to show turkeys in 4-H but I don't want 15 of them. We just don't eat that much turkey in a year.

You couldnt sell the turkeys to relatives, friends, co workers? We raise 20 and they sell very fast!

Your best bet is to get them from a local breeder -- or if you're just looking for the basic broad-breasted varieties call around to local feed stores and see which carry them this time of year.

The owner of the local feed store doesn't like to carry them. He said they don't sell well. Not many kids here show turkeys in 4-H. I know the people across from me would probally buy one but I don't know about the rest and I don't want to get stuck with a dozen and no room in the freezer.
I've found that people around here are what I consider "city folk". I've offered some co workers some eggs and they said they would rather buy them at the store because they were "FDA approved". To each his own.
I just found that Cackle hatchery will let you mix chicks and polts to make the minimum order. I'll just order some meat birds when it's time to order the turkeys.

People make no sense to me.
I have predators and space limitations so we can't free range. Not to mention a turkey would starve to death here if left to free range. Not much to eat in the desert.
