Ordered BR got BR & Blue Slate. Wanted to get some thoughts...

Hi. I'm somewhat new to turkeys and am starting a small BR Turkey Farm. I plan to breed and sell BR exclusively.

Anyway, wanted to get your thoughts on this situation...I placed an order for 15 BR poults from a hatchery in my state at the beginning of March. Due to some delays in hatching I was informed my order wouldn't ship till this week. Well I received my order yesterday and what they shipped me was 6 BR's and 9 Blue Slate. Now I know Blue Slate's are beautiful birds but I wanted all BR's. She said due to some "fertility issues" with their BR's she wouldn't be able to fulfill my order for 15 BR's till another 3 weeks and they didn't want me to have to wait that long so they sent me Blue Slate's instead. They did offer to send a couple more BR's next week with another chicken order I have with them which is nice. But if they only send me a couple more (i.e. 2), I'm still 7 short of the Bourbon Reds. I sent a nice email requesting that they send 7 BR's instead of just a couple more. Anyway, wanted to get your thoughts. Was I wrong to ask that they send me all the BR's that I ordered when they did send me Blue Slate? Hope that makes sense.

Note: The hatchery emails are very kind and I"m not trying to bad mouth them (hence leaving the name off) but this is my first time dealing with a hatchery and wanted to know if it was wrong of me to ask them to fulfill my original order.

I think you should have gotten what you asked for or should have been informed of your available options for you to decide before they shipped anything. Besides these are living creatures!! They stress out on these trips... are they expecting you to ship the ones you don't want back?

Thanks happy camper for the reply. I'm really not sure what the next step will be. I hope they don't want them shipped again. Just seems like it would be too much for the blue slates. Awaiting a reply from them...but appreciate your thoughts. I feel the same way.
