Ordered Chicks From My Pet Chicken - ???

Quote:
I didn't know that the hatcheries (MPC, Murray McMurray, etc.) sold non-pure breeds...So it could be that my Light Brahma is some kind of mix??? And the same for all my chicks? I'm not into showing my birds either, but the website should say that you could get non-pure mixes. Just out of curiosity, how do you get pure-bred birds?

Most of my birds are from Mt.Healthy, with the exception of the Columbian Rock cross (which was sold as such), they're all obviously pure breds.

Here are my 'chicks' I got from MPC March 28th. They are about 17 weeks in this pic. They are now 24 weeks and all laying. I would order again from MPC.

Goodness, Loreen, what are you doing up at 4:18?! Portland is pretty quiet at that time.

Also I love your birds, I ordered from MPC and my batch is due on the week of October 17th. Among the breeds I ordered are speckled sussex and easter eggers, if they turn out anything like your order they will be a pretty batch of chickens. Also, what are those black and white birds? Silver laced wyandottes? I like them whatever they are, wish I had picked a few up.

I ordered from MPC and received my six chicks mid-July 2011. All were very healthy and happy (almost jumping out of the box), and arrived very quickly. They had also put a generous portion of gro gel (or similar stuff) in the box with them. I have ordered from other companies who did not do this and chicks died of dehydration before arriving.

The customer service rep was very friendly.

The speckled sussex we got from them is very sweet, and likes to be pet.

I would order from them again. The extra price for shipping is worth it, the chicks arrive very quickly and lively.

We ordered 6 last week to be shipped on the 12th. They arrived bright and early yesterday morning--all alive and well.

I'm always up that early on work days, I was getting ready to leave for work.

Yes, the black & white ones are Silver-laced Wyandottes; I can't wait to see what their coloring will look like after they have their first full-blown molt.

I love MPC......I ordered a great brooder kit from them last year when I was starting out and also organic feed until I found a local source. I just ordered chicks from them last week.....BO's and Leghorns. They arrived in perfect condition right on the day they were promised in an ingenious box with a little heat pack. They are doing great except for one Leghorn who looks droopy today......but that's not their fault. Good luck with your new fuzzy butts.
