ordered the "new" jumbo celadon eggs from thieving otter farm-

I actually grabbed two reptile humidity temp gauges since I had them already, one side of the incubator is .5 degree off of what the incubator says but the humidity was close within a .5 degree so I was super impressed.

I don’t have ac, staying at 41-42 I have it set for 40, so think that is low as it will go, I think constant is better right?

Quail are pretty forgiving with humidity, don’t fret over 10 percent up or down. My first hatches were at 45 routinely and they did great (shipped eggs and novice incubator), my stupid little bubble incubator runs 80 or 20 respectively with or without water and I’ve hatched very successfully at both extremes (upped it during lockdown!), but the chicks seem to just pop out of the eggs at the lower end vs the way too high they seem to drag a bit (I do too when it’s humid and warm!). Overall I prefer a dry hatch but you won’t wreck your eggs even with extreme humidity. Aim for an average rather than a set point, you can only do so much with it depending on your incubator, even with ac or the furnace running, the ambient humidity doesn’t seem to have a huge effect on the little microclimate inside the incubator (temp and drafts and sunlight do effect temp hugely however).

down to 63 eggs, i didnt even check eggs except for hair cracks.
I have my Rcom on a table top with bubble wrap around it except for where the air comes in. Its in a room that isnt used and seems to not get super hot or cold. We are still in the 50's at night and now up to 70 during the day.

i have 8 live chicks, 1 hatched but died in the incubator :(. left the rest in the bator in hopes of late hatches. my friend has a few of the eggs that she put in her bator a bit later. hoping she has better luck, but i know shipping is so hard on eggs.

I ended up finding turkey grower and giving it to them debating if i should ground it more or not. a couple are super loud, curious if they will be males.. i have two yellowish so thinking those will be mostly white birds.

If the feed is "crumbles", I never bothered to grind it any further. If a piece is too big to fit in their mouths, they'll either find a smaller piece or keep pecking at it until it breaks up into smaller pieces. Sorry you didn't get a better hatch rate. Hopefully you'll have a good ratio of males to females and will be able to hatch some of your own eggs instead of shipped ones.

ok thank you, these quail are certainly different then chicks.

i put a few handfuls of food in there before work, so they would have plenty, does anyone put quail on wire when they get a bit older to keep it clean. thinking i can put wire in the bin then hose out the bin every few days as i know that 2x cleaning a day with papertowels will still stink eventually.
