If i were to order chicks right now from Meyers, when would i receive them being its kind of a off season?
I have a broody on some eggs now that i would like to sneak some new babies under her so by spring they should be well established. The eggs under her now are supposed to hatch January 15th if all goes well between now and then.

Also would like to order some so if something happens and none of the eggs make it being its only a few, then her sitting for 21 days wasn't all for nothing.

It's a pretty mild winter here, but I'd check into the temp conditions where you are before you order anything.

Many hatcheries do ship in the off season.

If it is too cold for you to think the chicks will survive, you might try calling around to your local feed stores. Rural King has chicks all year 'round, though the stock is somewhat limited right now.

The weather here is pretty mild. I live in SE GA. Tomorrow is supposed to be 80 and here lately its been in the mid 60's to lower 70's, I've been doing outside chorse in short sleeve shirts, shorts and flip flops lol. I've called Tractor Supply and they told me they wouldn't have chicks til the spring, which i kind of figured but i still called and checked.

Well turns out i can't order any without ordering 8 or more chicks. Which I'm only trying to order 4. Spring is so far away and i want to add some new and different babies to my flock. :hit

There are other hatcheries who will ship fewer, I think. MPC will ship as few as 3, but I don't know that the 3 chick minimum applies in the off season, though. Might be worth checking out.
I will check it out! I really only want 4 right now so in the future i can get babies from them when they get older instead of maxing myself out already. I told myself 20-25 chickens is my max lol! I have a lot of bantams. Trying to add larger breeds to my flock.

Cackle Ships as low as 3 chicks

I ordered 4 chicks from Cackle in 2017 in the middle of winter. My chicks were shipped out and a snow storm hit dropping temps to the negatives. All 4 chicks arrived alive and healthy!
The shipping box had a hay liner on the bottom and then a smaller box on top of the liner and inside the smaller box was a heat pad with a hay nest liner and my 4 chicks. The heat pack stayed warm 4 days after chicks arrived too.

They were one of the first hatcheries i looked at and i think the lowest was 8 as was Meyers and a lot of other places. Even MPC said i had to order more than 4. I'm still looking though!
