Your not going to have them ship in Dead of winter. No no for sure! I took the vote and looks like you got your answer. Awesome your up and about now :woot
I have no alternative! Its now or never, my boss already told me that i will have to start traveling in March, clients are waiting for me and with two months missing in my work schedule i will likely have a hard time to schedule time-off this year.
I think hatcheries know what they're doing and if they offer to ship at the end of January. (?)
I will order the five white layers from Metzer in CA and the 10 others from IdealPoultry in Texas. Both locations are not too bad now, and the forecast here for WV predicts a warmup around Jan/31

I am picking up ducklings and goslings from Ideal on Feb 6. I had to wait to get the goslings. They are smaller and I like them because no leg problems. Don't know why the ducklings are smaller but they are healthy and happy.
I envy you! IdealPoultry is just an hour away from you, so you can pick'em up.
The closest hatchery here is Meyers in Polk, OH - roughly a four hour drive.
How's the weather around H-town?

I loved my Buffs. I named them the adventure ducks because they were the first to do everything. Escape from the brooder, get into the pond, lay eggs, go broody, lay blue eggs, got run over by the plumber:barnie
I have buffs and loved where you where going till you said run over by the plumper. Hope that never happens in my case!:fl How did you get yours off the pond when they found it(just in case mine find the pond).

Wow! - Did the plumber survive?

And yes, I've heart many good things about Buffs, that's why i want them.
They lay BLUE eggs?!

Sorry the pond is really a big kiddie pool. Didn't mean to mislead you. But they will do anything for treats. And I shook the dead duck at the plumber. I was very angry as he ran over it right in front of the slow for ducks sign. I will probably never have another blue egg duck.:hit
