Ordering Eggs? * In The Summer*??????????

I would have to disagree that the heat is destructive. I ship year round (when my girls lay) and have excellent results in all sorts of temps. Of course, there is a risk, but there is always risk with shipping eggs regardless (primarily due to handling). Most of my summer customers tell me the eggs are nice and cool inside the packing (and I don't pack them any different based on temps). I think heat is much less dangerous than freezing temps. It is a good idea to provide a phone number during these times of the year to ensure you get a prompt phone call when they arrive. Good luck with your order.

If you disagree thats fine. But its a proven fact that the embryo is active at 69*degrees and higher temps will be destructive on the embryo. Why do you think Hubbard and Tysons ship fertile eggs in refrigerated trucks! Im sure its to help the hatch rates.

Proven or not..wild birds know what works. Wild eastern turkeys lay eggs for 14 days in 80 degree temps here and they sit in the heat for 2 full weeks and they still hatch a clutch of babies every year, and sometimes twice a year.

Aside from that, my years of experience in shipping hatching eggs is all I need to know what works and what doesn't. I do feel freezing temps are dangerous.

Refrigeration is more destructive to hatching eggs than heat and dehydrates the eggs, reducing hatchability.

I think either way if it's hot or cold out theres a risk... but thats the risk you gotta take when ordering eggs right?
