RIP 1953-2021
Ok I just got my feed back on Mazuri from the feed store.
""Double S Tack and Feed Information""
"Hi Debbie. Purina doens't make a fowl or pheasant feed specific. They have what they call Maz Exotic Gamebird. It comes in a 25# Starter that runs $16.29 a bag. A breeder in a 40# bag for 23.69 or A Maintenance in a 40# bag for 23.09. All these are special order and take two to four weeks to get here. If we can help you please let us know. Have a nice day Chuck"
Mazuri has a website http://shop.mazuri.com/gamebirddiets.aspx where you can buy directly from them. Their website prices are a little less than what he quoted me with one exception. Shipping is pretty much a deal killer because of the weight of the product. 25 lb bag of starter for instance runs 15.45, The shipping to my city is 39.00 making a single bag over fifty dollars. The cheapest shipper they have is UPS. I thought by purchasing a larger package the price for shipping would be relatively lower so I put in for four bags of Maintenance. Total purchase price 130 ish. plus shipping ran it over three hundred bucks.... So No I wont be ordering from them directly.... LOL.
Here is a spec sheet on the starter: http://www.mazuri.com/PDF/5637.pdf
This feed store sells Mazuri products for other species ranging from Tiger to Flamingos so they probably go through at least a ton of Mazuri product per month. Thats where they get a shipping break because now they can use commercial carriers rather than UPS. Therefore by purchasing through them You don't get hit by the big freight charges for a single package.
If You are interested for a local source find a feed store that sells Purena because Mazuri is a purena product. And Best to have one that is located near a zoo. Or who supplies zoo support facilities.
So Now I go off to investigate ULTRA....
