Ordering males? Read this!

    Last spring I noticed alot of posts where people couldn't figure out which of their new chicks were the cockerels they ordered.
    Ask that the males be marked! I don't know about the other hatcheries, but Ideal doesn't charge for this service and it takes alot of the frustration out of the guessing game. The mark on their heads wears off in a week or two, but by then you can come up with a different way of keeping track of the little boys.

    That's good advice. I did see that you can ask to have them marked when browsing a catalog one time.

    I ordered my chicks today & I had read this post before ordering from Ideal. I made a note & when I ordered, I asked them if they could mark the roos & she said yup no problem. So thanks for the info! At least I will know who the 2 little roos will be [​IMG]
