Ordering nipples

1. go to qc supply and look at the diff types and you will figure out the difference
2. screw in type works great if you drill the right size hole i think 11/32 if you get the hole to big you could use psh in type in it
3.you can find them on ebay for cheap but i cant vouch for the quality

i got mine from qc and also got free chore gloves athe price is bout the same from qc or farmtek but shipping is waaay betterat qc

order extra because once you switch you will want to build more for all over and as this makes your waterer so much cleaner you wont have to spend time scrubbing poop out of the trough

Ordered!

I got 6 of them to have a couple buckets with 2 nipples each at least and then I have a couple extra just in case. The shipping was the same for 4 or 6.

Thanks for the help.

I don't have them, but I do believe I read somewhere on BYC that the push in kind are for when you run a smallish diameter pipe from the bucket. The push in kind have a gasket to help seal the opening due to putting the nipple in a hole on a rounded surface as opposed to putting them in a hole on a flat surface (like the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket). I sure hope that makes sense!

I'm going to get some and have hubby drill the holes. That way I KNOW they'll be right. Just saying..............I don't trust myself to drill the holes and risk ruining the bucket. I'd like to set up a bucket to feed a pvc line into the hen house and get that big water fount off the floor.

I found Farm Tek's website. I can't find the site for "qc" anyone got that information, that they might like to share??? My husband wan;)ts us to try this watering system, atleast 9 months out of the year!!

I just ordered some of the push-in types from qc supply, here is the link: http://www.qcsupply.com/420011-push-in-style-nipple.html

Thanks
for the suggestion Opa, I have the threaded ones from Farm Tek in pvc pipe, and no problems with leaking, but hopefully I'll avoid future problems with the push-in types. FYI, I ordered 12 from QC and they were $1.27 a piece, shipping was $6.15 and the total order was $21.39.

I ordered the screw in type, I think it was from farm tek but can't be sure. I am quite happy with them. No leaking from the hanging 5 gallon bucket and no mess, no fuss, no floaties in the water.

I ordered the push in type from Neil Grassbaugh (a BYCer) search for his name or nipple waterers and you should find him. Fantastic, quick and shipping was soooo much less than either of the other ones. $9.90 for 4 including shipping (1.85 each)! I guess it depends on if you need just a few or alot. Just a few - I would recommend Neil. FYI, I only have 8 birds, so what I have is plenty.

I have 2 that are in a 4 gal. square bucket with a homemade lid (don't seal the lid or you create a vacuum), and 1 in a Costco milk jug in the coop. I like the push in since the jugs will get algae with no way to clean them really. I just get a new jug, clean it real well with a little bleach water and have a new clean jug. Super easy to install. I like the Costco jug because they are square and fit nicely in my coop.
