Ordering spring chicks....so much fun. What did you get?

My wife and I ordered 16! These will be our first chickens.
We got Barred Rocks, Amerecaunas (Easter Eggers?), Anconas, and one random Chick. A friend told us the Barred Rocks may not be friendly though...

Our friend has Brahma's which are SUPER sweet and docile.

I had a barred rock, sweetest gal... An osprey from the pond behind our house got her last summer. You will love them, really, one of the best breeds.

I want the French type Cuckoo Marans, but I haven't found a place to get them at a reasonable price (Cackle is too pricey and their small order fees are too high for my liking).

I want a couple more California Whites and something that will lay blue eggs FOR SURE but isn't red.

I'm going to hatch a lot more Blue Australorps.

I know someone who is getting some cuckoo Marans from McMurray, but I'm not sure if they are French.

IIRC, Murray McMurray's Cuckoo Marans are clean-legged, but their White Marans are the French type.

Unless they changed this year. I haven't gotten my paper catalog yet and haven't looked online.

I can *usually* sell females for between $15-20 -- but I have to raise them to POL. This year might be different with the US egg shortage, but I haven't had luck selling chicks, just POL pullets.

I know right! But reading the list it seams like breeds that can be sexed by other means than vent or are a little larger than most other bantams.

Like sex link bantams, etc?

Sounds amazing, but the gas would eat the profit.

I didn’t know anyone would sell sexed bantams.

Meyers does and ideal as far as i knowthey are the only two

Your friend is wrong barred rocks are the friendliest they are so sweet I love them mine I've had two two generations of a flock of barred rocks and they are the only ones that will actually eat out of my hand he will jump in my lap and they love me

100 percent agree... One of the best breeds.
