Oregon Fall Chicken Swap!! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10!!

Do it in salem at the park last time on a non holiday week Saturday and someone remind me when it is near, as classes might keep me off the board a lot this fall, and your very own silkiechicken can try to be there! Perhaps with some goodies too!

I'd be down with albany too actually as the closer it is to OSU, the more likely I will be able to sneak out of lab.

Just couldn't make it last time since I was back in Washington!

I'm interested in meeting you all this time - the only date that won't work for me is the 17th, as I'll be prepping for the PNPA show that weekend. Won't have anything to swap, but I'd like to come meet everybody!!

Ok, the 17th is out!!

The 24th is now out for me.

Let's say October 10th. Any issues with the 10th?

The park in Salem was nice and easy to get to from the freeway. Now, Eugene would be great, but I think that we would get more people in Salem or Albany.

So, I'm going to throw out:

Saturday, October 10th in Salem at the Cascades Gateway Park near the airport.

(of course if we need to change the date, we can!!

I have lots of nice SQ Silkies, Jersey Giant chicks, some adult cuckoo Silkies, couturnix quail, Cuckoo Marans, Speckled Sussex and Blue and Buff Orpington. I could bring chicks or juveniles in any of those varieties. Oh ya, I also have a young pair of Auburn turkeys and several geese and ducks.

I
also have a bunch of Marans, a few EEs and a couple of Barred Rock in the brooder. In the incubator are lots of Welsummers, some Rhode Island Whites and a few Silver Laced Wyandottes. Ok, the RIWs and SLWs are in a hatchery's incubator, but I should have plenty to trade.

I could hatch out some Cream Brabanter eggs, and have some fertile eggs to bring.

Actually, I don't know why I didn't think of them before, but I have 2 black bantam Ameracauna pullets, they are SQ as far as I can tell, and are 14.5 weeks old now. I will only bring them if someone definitely wants them...I'd prefer a trade for a SQ splash silkie (pullet preferred, since I don't know what my chicks are yet), or a nice mille fleur d'uccle or two.

If anyone is interested in pics, PM me.

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited about a swap in Oregon! This will be my first one. It is a 3hour drive for us, but we will be there. Not sure what we will have to bring yet, possibly some barred rocks, oppingtons, and maybe some delaware chicks? Is this swap only for hens or also roosters?
Thanks,
Yvette

Hi Yvette,

I only bring what people ask for, for biosecurity reasons. However, others brought all their surplus and people were giving away freebies when the gathering started to disperse. You might be able to get rid of a couple of roosters that way, if you are so inclined.

What level of quality are your Barred Rocks and Delawares? If they are approaching SQ I might be inclined to trade for a couple of each to replace my lower end brood stock.

I am in for the 10th in Salem (still open to Albany though)!
I should have quite an assortment by then. Does anyone want guinea keets. They will be about 1 month old by then. Also working on a splash silkie pullet, SQ.
