Chickboss, I just saw this post and I would be willing to chip in for this if we decide to hold it there. This is the type of place I was thinking of moving it to. For the Fall one, we could find something like this up north. I will be able to come, I just couldn't organize it with everything else that suddenly popped up in my life. Let me know what becomes of this idea and count me in for some money if we go this direction.

Is there a list somewhere of people on BYC that live in Southern Oregon and whom we have contact information for? If there was a contact list, then organizing future bird swaps, as well as one-on-one bird swaps and sales, could occur. Currently, the word is being spread by this one thread in this one forum. Many of us do not regularly check in with BYC, and would therefore never know a bird swap was planned or occurring. A regional network could also serve as a means of exchanging advice about local breeders, food sources, egg exchanges, etc.

If there is a list, I would like to know about it. If there is not, I'd be happy to start one, and securely keep it. No one would have to give specific information about their location, in case they are the super private type. It could be as simple as a city location and email address.

Anyone interested may contact me directly at [email protected]

Brian in Merlin, Oregon.

RIR, Delaware, Ameracauna, Bk Australorp, Buff Orp, and coming soon: Seramas (smallest bantam breed in the world).

Brian, there isn't anything like that that I know of. We also advertise the swaps on Craigslist for several weeks prior to them actually occuring, to give non BYCers a chance to come as well. We also post on the "Oregon" thread for anyone that hasn't seen this one...

I have a very lonely WCBP Roo, who would love a girlfriend who can't see past her own poof enough to pick at his top hat!

He is in with some juvinile chickens right now because the ones his own age (different breed) went nuts when he molted and he had all the long pin feathers coming in. Poor guy...

Okay, sounds like the DC fair grounds is a huge possibility. I guess we need some kind of vote and a list of those willing to pitch in and how much. I don't want anyone to feel put on the spot money wise, so once it is firmly decided, people could PM me if they are interested in chipping in, if that sounds okay. I can start getting it organized as soon as we are officially agreed.

Brian, I will be emailing you about your suggestion as soon as I get a chance. I feel like we are in some kind of dead zone here and I know that's not the case in reality. Would be nice to have a way of contacting other fanciers in this area. I'm in Myrtle Creek, so not that far off from your area.

Does anyone know anything about Pass Creek County Park in Curtin? It looks pretty nice, and you can rent the pavillion for only $50...and it's not too far off I-5...

That sounds great Cloverleaf! Do you have a link, I found all kinds of stuff, but no pics. $50.00 would be great compared to the fair grounds....
