Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Jeanine, just wanted to let you know I had a delightful conversation with the man who is getting your rooster tomorrow. He is a great guy, loves and spoils his chickens and is very excited to have his new rooster. I'm positive he is going to have a long and happy life

Frankie got me in super trouble this morning! I don't know what or why, but he just started crowing non stop! Hubby was trying to sleep (works nights) and he was being a grouch!...I finally had to put Frankie way back in the back room, and shut that door and the door on our bedroom. He must have heard something that we couldn't hear. He just wouldn't stop! And very very loud! I took him out of the cage. Trying to love on him. Not interested. Took Jonnie out. (thinking they might be at each other) No. Gave him new food, changed his water. Nothing. He finally has settled, but is still pacing. What is going on? I finally put a blanket over the cage. I think he has calmed. ..I just went in to check, everyone is fine now. Took blanket off. All is good. He just went spaz on me. No idea why. But it looks like he's back to to normal. Geesh!.....Scared me, (both him and Jim screaming at me!) I thought I might just leave! lol

On the subject of flies someone on here posted that flies hate the scent of vanilla and those car air fresheners would keep flies off their porch and out of their chicken run. Another said vanilla scented chinchilla dust provided for baths kept her chickens happy and fly fee. I haven't yet tried these tips, but vanilla is tons better than other alternatives!

Well I don't know much about the flies, but I think vanilla scented chickens would be great!

Lol you have made my day Alexis

I will have a really great selection available at the swap. The last hatch, this coming hatch, one more hatch and I think I'm going to make use of a couple broody Serama hens and let them hatch babies. They aren't laying so they might as well do something!

Bored tonight, so I started thinking. Thought I might update the ol' list. (Sorry Laura, I know everytime you update the full list we are always changing our own lists!) And being that we still have a few weeks, it might change again.

I'm going to have to remember to bring a few pet carriers or cages of some kind and lots and lots and lots of money!! I know there is probably a lot more that I really want, but can't remember now. I think I have 'most' of the living things listed. I know, if I have the room, I see something else I will just have to have...

Oh why do they have to look so darn cute?? I'm only suppose to bring home 2 orps and 2 polish, anything else I'll have to sneek in.

Now I better get to bed. I've got to get some of the things on my bringing list completed!

No worries Paula...I expect everyone's lists to change a lot in the upcoming weeks! I'm used to this as we inch closer to the swap date. Keeps life exciting

I will probably update the list this weekend since my husband and son will be gone all weekend (makes life a little more quiet around here) so if anyone else wants to update theirs, go for it!
