Ohhhh I am so sorry!!!

That is just awful

I don't have a mini so I don't know how they are set up but on my Advanced 20...noway any of that could happen so I am not much help

Thank you ZooMummzy.

I am at least enjoying my 3 little fuzzy bottoms. I thought having small hatches would control me better but now I'm rethinking this. How in the world am I going to get rid of 3 chicks (sure to be roosters) (I mean 3 chicks doesn't even sound like "straight run" as seems like you need at least 5, lol). I mean of course the kids need to love on them, and of course they must be raised inside until feathered, and of course they will get very tame.....

What was I thinking,

At what point are you an official "chicken lady" (ie crazy old cat lady kind).
I had great plans on upgrading my flock, getting in new birds, hmmmm - perhaps I should go to bed and stop thinking because it seems to create chicken math errors.
Did I mention I hope to set duck eggs on Monday - incubator anonymous here I come.

My name is Paula, and I have a problem with 'needing eggs to hatch'!

Not just any where, but in a strange box in the middle of my livingroom......................................................................................................................................

(Is it possible to want the Swap to hurry up and get here

I have had just the worse thing possible to have happen!!!
hit.gif

I am down to 3 eggs in bator. (3 from the 6 turkey eggs I bought on ebay. Way too much money, by the way!!
smack.gif
) 3 never started and a 1 for sure, and the other 2, ??. Well today is suppose to be hatching day, (and I have been very good at not bothering them!!!) I guess too good. I hadn't notice that the table they are on had been moved just enought for one of our dogs to get behind it. This morning, the dog (which we should re-name, Dead!!) was behind the table, just laying. I'm try to not 'bother' the bator (had check it once, nothing. "leave it along!" but not noticing the dog.) Dog heard loud noice, jumped up to 'go' see, but had gotten taggled in electrical cord!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I screamed as eggs went flying!
I scooped them up, grabbed the candler, and headed for kitchen. Only one had cracked, BAD!
th.gif
The for sure one!!
th.gif
I opened one, nothing and the second one, I barely touched it and it exploded!
barnie.gif
OK now the good (but now cracked) egg. I slowly pulled all the shell off. NO BLEEDING! ok either has already died or ??. I split, carefully the tough white layer. They chick moved!
ep.gif
It looked like it was trying to breathe, but no room for any air. So I made a tiny little split where the beak was. It took a breath! I ran to put it back into the bator! Tiny bit of blood around the 'cut' I made, but it is still breathing!

Still watching, like a hawk. Still hasn't tried to move out from the 'membrane', but is breathing! Should I leave it alone, but keep a watchfull eye on it? I can see it's little heart beat and it doesn't act or look like it is in too much stress! (Not like me!!

)
I'm open to any suggestions! I really want to see this one live! It is a Royal Palm and I have been trying to get one all summer. I finally broke down and got eggs. (Turkeys take forever to hatch, BTW!) It isn't bleeding. There was a tiny bit right after I cut the membrane, but it stopped.
I have so much to do today! And I need to make food runs! But I'm afraid to leave this room!

HELP!
(I think I might just need some incouragement, and someone to tell me not to kill the dog!)

I don't know know about turkey's either but I do about hatching eggs. I would keepa sharp watch that the membrane don't get dried out maybe a bit of moist paper towel just barely touching a bit of the membrane thay way you could put a drop of water on it when needed. I think that it could take well over 24 hrs. for this one to hatch since he did not make the pip himself and he will need to take up the yolk before hatching. I will let someone with better info help you but these are things that I have done myself. and had good succes. Poor doggie he doen't know what in the world he did wrong.
Take a deep breath and know that all these are teaching and learning experiences for us know matter how painfull they seem
Good luck, and patience, patience with that Royal little egg.
P.S. hope I did not seam too (preachee) just trying to help.

Thanks RustyHen and K7!

I did think of the 'moisture' and did raise the humidity in the bator. It is still going strong! I have calmed down a bit. (and I didn't kill the dog
big_smile.png
,not yet. He is 'out of the doghouse'. For now! He is a beagle, so he is near life and death throughout the day!)
The little turkey is breathing good. He isn't trying to 'move' around, so I'm leaving it alone, but watching!!!

If this little guy makes it, I'm thinking of naming it Humpty Dumpty!

Paula, once during this hatching season, one of my dogs got her foot caught in the cord to one of my turners, and pulled it just enough to cut the power, but it still looked plugged in. I lost A LOT of very expensive eggs that I REALLY wanted...I feel your pain!!
