[Oregon Blues]

I have a pair of Lavender Swedish ducks to sell. They are lavender, not splash; a rare color.

They are purebred Swedish from show stock. The color is not showable except as AOV, since blue is the only recognized color in Swedish. The duck is really nice and the drake is exceptionally nice.

I would keep the drake to breed to my blues, but it turns out that my order of 16 show quality Blue Swedish ducks (14 ducks 2 drakes) arrived to contain 6 Blue Swedish ducks and a box full of Pekins. The Swedish have turned out to be 2 ducks and 4 drakes. I'll be keeping the best blue drake and with only 2 ducks, I can't justify keeping the lavender drake, even though he is the best drake in the entire bunch.

I really hate to butcher these lavender ducks. They are much better than table quality. $30 for the pair if anybody wants them.

I meant to put that they are homemade harnesses.

I am making them specially as chicken harnesses. I can make both a bantam size and a large size for big large fowl, ducks, and Geese. They are very versitile and adjustable, so unless you have a really big chicken the regular size should fit. Just measure your chicken's girth behind the wings and I can accomidate the size.. They are available in red, blue, or green, since I use recycled white cotton and dye it with koolaid or food coloring. The leads are in matching colors and are 2 yards long. It is not a traditional leash, just a lead made from shiny twine that is very strong.

My sewing machine has gone out, so everything is handstitched for the swap. I am not a professional at sewing, but the stitching will hold.

My husband built me a new brooder today.

It is 2x6x2....total of 12 sq. feet. It opens on top for easy access and cleaning, and it has a wire section of roof where I can secure a lamp. I bought lamps with three holes in the metal rim and I can wire it to the mesh roof so it can't move....safer that way.

My Orpington babies are loving it.

I just wanted to show it off. When the chicks are moved out of it I will paint it.

The event goes on the marquee today (or tomorrow) - I will take a photo for everyone to see - and I am renewing the CL add. I expect to be over 60 vendors by the time Saturday rolls around because I have a feeling several people will just show up with stuff to sell/swap.

I have also been approached by the fairgrounds to make our swap an annual event with them. They said they would make it worth our while. I graciously accepted and am very excited that this area has embraced us. It is better than I ever imagined!



Ok, update time....(and yes, Jeanine, lol I expect to get yours later today...)

Set-up information: *Please check in at the Greeter/Raffle table BEFORE setting up your area!*

Set-up can begin anytime after 8:30 on Saturday morning. I'm recommending that everyone setting up a table try to be there no later than 10am. It would be nice to have everything ready to go before 11am so we are not setting up while people are showing up to shop! We will have tables reserved near outlets for everyone bringing chicks and several people have volunteered to show up early to help out. Nutcakes will be there early selling coffee, donuts and other goodies way before the doors open to the public - we will get them fresh out of the bakery!

Clean-up: Not sure on the clean up crew yet (4Hers?) but we will need to completely clean up the building - trash, sweeping, outside if need be before we can leave for the evening. I know a lot of people will be driving back north and down south, but it would be appreciated if everyone can stay as long as possible to help.

Tables: Please bring your own tables (8-10' max please) but I think we will have enough chairs. The rental provides 10 tables that we are using for the welcome table, the raffle items and the businesses will each get one. If we have some leftover, they will be available but I cannot reserve any at this time for individuals. There are a couple people bringing extra tables as well but please do not count on getting one. If you do not need a table for your items, we will have 75 chairs available with the rental of the building, but feel free to bring your own if you'd rather. Both sets of large doors are reserved for people setting up larger items (tractors, coops, etc) and all areas by outlets will be reserved for people bringing chicks.

Reminder, it is time to start confirming your raffle items with Cloverleaf. If you are choosing to just donate money, that is fine too. Donating will be done before the swap begins. You will receive a sticker on your name tag indicating that you have already donated so you won't be bothered again that day. Those without a sticker should expect to be pestered through the swap!

Sorry that I missed you at the Stevenson Show yesterday. After the raffle I went back over to the Serama area thinking that you may be there. Somehow I was always where you weren't!! This is what happened to me at the Spring Poultry Swap except with several other people. Funny luck.

I do have a question about how the Fall Poultry Swap Raffle is going to run. Is it similar to the Stevenson Show where you buy raffle tickets and place them in bags for the items that you would like to win?
I also got some really great ideas on what to bring for a raffle item.

It was great meeting and recognizing so many people that I had met at the Spring Show. I can't believe how much that I have learned just since April!!
