Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

I'm just throwing this out here for now...sending out feelers I guess you could say.... I have two pullets - a 3 month old red sex link and a 3 month old Sizzle Leghorn (she is white with black and brown spots in her frizzled feathers) - I think I should rehome but there are a few stipulations. They have to go together and they have to be kept together, no matter what....AND they can't be rehomed again. I want them to go to a forever home you could say where they will be spoiled and loved. Melinda, the red sex link, is a sweetie but very protective of Ingrid. She came with a special needs chick earlier this year who unfortunately died a couple days later (she was blind). Ingrid, the Sizzle Leghorn (from Keri78's breeding project of a tri colored Sizzle and a brown leghorn) bonded to Melinda since hatching. I mean they are literally inseparable. Ingrid cries if Melinda isn't near her at all times. It is odd for a bantam and a standard to be so close, but they are. They have never been outside - they live in one of the large cages my husband built - in our chicken room. I am not adding to my flock outside and I really feel bad keeping them locked up. At this point, I'm looking for interested parties and homes for them and will then make a decision based on the situations. So let me know if are interested and what type of life they would have with you. I know it's crazy to be this particular about such things but that's just me! Lol most of you know this already so it shouldn't be too shocking

Those were really good! And she's right. I kind of live in the middle of nowhere sort of...

OMG! It is beautiful outside!

Set up a cover run outside and took the silkies out. They are loving it!

Had to bring in my stupid dogs.

They see all the chickies all the time while they are in the house. But take those same guys out, it is like they have never seen them before!

The little ones would probably be ok, it is Mr Binx that's the problem. He is my husband's beagle who adopted me, and he doesn't seem to know how to bark. It is just that annoying beagle HOWL! Nonstop.

I had to come back in anyway. Chickies are safe and secure, so I thought I would come in and cool off with a drink. Just a diet coke.

But it is cold! Will let the babies stay out for a little while longer then bring them in to a nice clean cage to sleep in. They still are so funny looking! Poor babies. They have lost all of the baby fluff and they still have that 'bad hair day' look.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the hen and rooster in Silkies?

I need to get these guys named. I looked some info up in some books, but the best answer I found was wait till one crows!

I don't want to name one something like Lola then turn around and rename it a Lance. (which I have already done before) I just thought they are starting to get big enough, there would be an easier way in telling. (I've tried asking, but so far no one is telling!)

Are you going to try that jalapeno one?

Oh! Lump crab with roasted sweetcorn and jalepeno!!!!! Seriously yummy with a tiny touch of cilantro and lime. Sprinkle of paprika on top.
