Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

tallyho - we do! Rhonda got her starter stock from Korfus and we've been culling and playing with breeding crosses since. B/B/S only, but they are total sweethearts and I've fallen in love with the ladies' skirts as they run across the range towards us lol ...

Excellent! I'm going to PM you and send you her email her address. I will let her know that you will be emailing. They don't have a coop yet but are looking at one. I told her I think it's too small so they might be one step back from getting chickens yet. I did reiterate that she should get a couple of really good birds to start with. I think the mom heard me.

Yes I will butcher and dress my own. Thought I can't sell them already butchered; it is illegal. I can how however sell them 'alive' and then butcher them for free.

If the poultry bill passes I can sell them butchered because rabbits are considered poultry.

Sounds good to me!!

Where bouts are ya? DS has been wanting to try rabbit, though since we JUST got 2 pet rabbits, I don't think I could bring myself to off one of the fuzzy little critters just yet..

I am down by Albany. Though I frequent up north a bit because of family up there.

Here's a couple pics of the showgirl I got from Celiandy at the swap:

Yep, a naked necked Silkie, and yes named showgirl due to the strong resemblance to a Vegas showgirl, complete with feather boa around the neck.

Oh, I'm jealous. I have 8 of her birds and 3 dozen eggs (due to hatch Thursday, going on lockdown today) but I haven't been to Karen's place. I'm sure you got some beautiful chickens.... um.... where's the pics?

Congrats! See you at the swap.

I will be bringing lots of tables with me to share with whoever needs them! I talked to the parents this week and they decided to come to the swap after I listed all the non-chicken things people might bring (I won Mom over at "and someone makes cheesecakes" lol) My dad loves (car) swap meets and has loads of 5-6' tables with folding legs that fit in the back of his truck. They're ugly but sturdy and I am sure we can bring at least 10 to add to the 10 that come with the space. Mom even said she has some plastic tablecloths to lay down under cages to ease the cleanup work. My parents don't have chickens any more because of the dogs, but they are still interested in coming to look around. And buy cheesecake. I am gonna have a whole hoarde of friends/family coming by the end of this!
