Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

I am so sorry you are dealing with this! I agree with Cloverleaf that you should have a necropsy done if possible before deciding your final course of action (treating or culling). I hope things improve.

I was out in the yard photographing my chickens this week, and I just wanted to post some pics of the birds I have available. Hopefully they will find homes before the swap! But I will keep them on my available list until they do. I have a BCM cockerel and an Olive Egger pair that are all around 4 months old. And a frizzled bantam cochin pair that are just under 3 months old. Here's some pics:

I am sure you will find them a home. Just be patient with CL. It usually takes me a week more so before I find the right home for my chickens. Can you keep him inside in a crate at night or something till you do find them a home? That is what I've had to do.

I thought silkie roos weren't as loud? I have one (my black one) that I'm thinking is a roo. HE(?) is bigger than the other 2 and it looks like he might be getting a 'comb'. Still not a lot of noise out of him yet. They all make a cooing type of sound, just no crowing. Just going by the way they are acting, I think I have 1 roo and 2 hens. They are getting really big, so I figure sooner or later I'll either get eggs or some crowing real soon!

Oh yeah, Silkies are loud! I have only had one silkie roo that didn't crow, but all the others I had to rehome.

I forgot to say I can relate to your scare the other day! I've done the same thing when my chickens have been dust bathing

I hatched shipped Lemon Blue Cochins (standard) in March. There are 4 pullets and 1 rooster. With so many birds growing up I have decided to let these go. If your interested in them please let me know. I don't think we will be able to bring them to the swap so if you can make it to the Portland/Vancouver area it would be an easy pickup. 3 of the pullets are a beautiful white with the blue and carmel colored feathers sprinkled in. Then there is a stunning Lemon Blue pullet and I am seeing more of the lighter feathers coming in on the rooster too. Its been a tough decision to let these go, I was going to wait until they started laying or first molt to see how the colors set so catch me before I change my mind and build another pen

OMG! That was the first time I had ever seen any of them do that! I really thought she was dead! She had made a small little 'dip' in the bedding. She looked flat as a pancake! I think she thought I had went nuts! I put a flat dish in the cage with 'dust'. Chinchilla dust I think it is. I can tell they have been 'walking' in it, nothing else.

NEWS ON THE HOMEFRONT!!

My refridgerator died this morning!! I woke up to a drippy mess!

I had to clean out everything. (good thing we have an extra fridge in the garage) And it is filled to capacity at the moment! So Jim and I had to make a trip to the mall first thing today and check out Sears. On a good note, I GOT A NEW FRIDGE! Bad note, Jim said to consider it as my anniversary gift! (10 yrs this month) Not really what I was hoping for, but I did get to pick out what I wanted. Yippee!

I started to get the one with the 'french doors'. Two doors on top, freezer drawer on bottom. It was ok, but I was afraid it would be too wide for the 'space' in-between the cabinets. So I went with the one door on top with the freezer drawer on bottom. I had one with the water in the door (side by side) and it was always a big mess. So no water this time. Just a nice 'big' ice maker in the draw!! Never can have too much ice! Went to fix me a drink before bed last night, and No f*%$@#g ice! such a bummer!
Now I just have to wait till Sears delivers my new fridge on Tuesday, to go grocery shopping.

I had to pull everything out of the freezer this morning. I didn't realize how many bags of frozen veggies that I had in there! Jim started throwing stuff away. I told him I would make a huge pot of soup tonight or in the morning so don't throw it out just yet!
rant.gif
MEN! I also had some freezer jam in there that I made last fall. (stupid freezer!
smack.gif
) What to do with all that! Urggg!
Could I feed any of this stuff to the chickens? I really hate to just throw it all out. It just makes me so mad!
somad.gif
I had dripping ice cream running all over the kitchen floor! Thank God we have plans to meet up with friends tonight at McMenamins! I'm going to need it after all this mess!!
rant.gif

Ok I got to rant some. I feel better. Now we can get back to chicken talk!

Thanks!
