Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

If you wind up waiting I have a Silkie bantam that was hatched in July that I don't want to keep... currently growing up with the bantam favorelles in the grow out brooder.

That would be awesome! I most definitely can wait. I would really like a Silkie but I know they are so hard to sex until 4 months or so and usually people put them outside with their flocks by then. Due to my Seramas, even with quarantine, I don't want to bring a bird in that has been with a flock. I'm kind of paranoid about that.

This little Silkie is in the brooder with the other bantams that hatched and when they move from the brooder they are going into their own tractor / cage. There were 4 bantams that hatched so the group is small that she

is growing up with.

Just had to share..

Looks like there is a blue pullet peep in the group too now that colors are starting to really come in.

Yeah, isn't she great?!?

She was really great. A very nice woman. I would have liked to stay and talk to her longer.

I have met a lot of very nice people through this forum. I don't know if nice people are drawn to raising poultry, or if raising poultry makes people nice.....hmmmm.

Yes, it was so hot I almost fainted! Definitely not the best day to work with live mohair!

But I learned a lot from watching, and maybe I was helpful...and only got a few bruises. And it was a really fun day, especially after all the work was over.

BTW, I found some cool books at the local library bookstore - and I picked up the "Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cheesecake Book" for 50 cents! Oh, it looks yummy! Wirebound hardcover with gorgeous color photos. It's yours, if you'd like it - assuming there might be some recipes that you don't have yet.

(I still owe you .30 for the 11th jar). Not sure if I'll get back out to Philomath before the swap, though..

Oh, such gorgeous birds! Love Fred - what a cute face! And the roo is impressive. Yes, I'm sure the spring eggs will be filled with pretty ones.
