Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 27, 2012 in Corvallis!!!

What was the due date for payment on the cheesecakes? I would like to order a Buckeye (glad I asked what flavor that was, sounds perfect!)

I have 3 breeder quality Lavendar (self-blue) project Orpington cockrels, an additional one that is pet quality, one pet quality black Orpington cockrel, and one small pet quality Speckled Sussex cockrel (with way too much white). I can hold them until the swap but need to know they have homes by Sept. 14. If you purchase then you will need to bring your own cage/carrier. Please PM me if you are interested or have questions. Also posting this on FB.

You still have time. I think I will be cutting orders off the first week of October but for now, it's all good. My paypal is [email protected] Just add a note with the payment which cheesecake you'd like. That is also my email if you want to write me.

I dont have any extra chickens any more but I do still have a few quail that are free to a good home , Someone wanted the bobs but I need to hear from them I pm'd them but got no response so Ill ask them to contact me here incase my pm's are messed up. I have jumbo browns and hatched some of there eggs just yesterday and today and so I know they are good little birds even there firsts few eggs after reaching maturity hatch .

I would like couple as well if you still have them at swap time.

Hi All. I have enjoyed this forum and look forward to attending the Chicken Swap in October. We have almost finished Miss Kat's Chicken Shack and run at our house on the Alsea River. My husband raised game birds when he was young in CA. I have never raised chickens and want to raise them for personal egg production. What breed do you kind folk recommend I start with? Can I bring them home in a dog carrier? And I am thinking of using milk crates for nests and straw for bedding.

Thanks
Miss Kat

Hello and welcome =) Do you want them to be dual purpose? Just for eggs? Mixed flock or one breed?

I have a mixed flock...I wanted to try out a bunch and see what I like. So far some of my favorites are Welsummer, Dark Brahma, Easter Eggers, Partridge Rock and Sicilian Buttercups. The Buttercups lay darn near every day. It is a white egg and not large like some of the others...they are a smaller bird. They are a kick in the pants for entertainment though. Such characters! The Welsummer is a lap chicken...super friendly. The Dark Brahmas are huge birds, really docile and calm. The Easter Eggers lay the green eggs and I love their looks...also sweet and easy to handle. The Partridge Rock, I only have one of. She is a good girl, but bossy. She is really pretty.
I would say check out the breeds section, I was amazed at the different breeds. Also look up Heritage Poultry. It would be great if you found some you like that are needing to be brought back.
