Oregon Spring Chicken Swap!! SAT, April 24!! Albany OR **UPDATED MAP*

Hi, I think I may actually be able to make it there but I have never been to one and don't know what to do or bring or about testing...

I don't have time today to read the whole post (I wasn't keeping up because I didn't think I could make it)

If anyone can help me understand that would be great. If I bring birds, how do I price them?

I think it's going to be a great swap.

I hope you get a chance to skim over the posts as a lot of them list what people are bringing (chicks, chickens, rabbits, plant starts etc) and what they may want. As far as pricing, I don't know. Mine are going to be priced to go!

Last year I paid $20 for a SQ Silkie hen and I paid $5 for 3 month old EEs. I think it all just depends on the quality and how badly you want to get rid of them! Maybe someone else has better input? Oh, and we are doing kind of a potluck/picnic thing. There really isn't any place too close to grab stuff to eat or drink. I'm going to try and bring a cooler of water bottles and some pumpkin bread to share I think and maybe some cookies if I can get my daughter to make them

Oh, don't worry about that at all! I just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to bring something. Leaving is not always convenient as we found out last year. I know there will be plenty of stuff to munch on so no worries! Just bring yourself!! I seriously think you need to get the longest drive award!!! What do you think guys??? Can we do something great for rustyswoman????

I wanted to say I'm trying to get together the want/have list. In case you can't look back over the posts, it will give you the latest information. I'll see if Bil has one and if not, I'll get one together and posted by the weekend.

I'm certainly impressed, Idaho is a LONG drive! Sure looking forward to this and need to figure out what we have to offer and what I want most, that is the tough one!

Okay... here is what Geebs is willing to bring... If you want something email or pm me and I will bring it

Marans in Splash and blue, they are from Valentine line (not dark egg layers but very gorgeous polka dots)
Barber line Welsummer hens still in their first lay... Nice egg color.
black marans (project birds) Not enough egg color for me to keep for breeding
Blrw babies (only a couple) all blue laced
Blue marans... from very dark egg layer
Blrw eggs (less than a dozen) barber line... Nice dark lacing.
Cochin eggs (giant blue pen)
Black copper eggs. Only a few (dozen)
Pips and peeps Americaunas (2, one black and one blue)
Bev Davis and BayhorseBonne cross marans (cuckoo, awesome egg color)
Extra LG bator
Foam cooler (meat kind) for making homemade bator.
Horse tack

Trade items wanted

Closed flock Cree (eggs, birds, either sex)
Closed flock Jesse Bryant (same)
Closed flock Bayhorsebonne (same)

Am willing to pay cash also. No crosses please

I also have a couple marandesenca if anyone wants to have a go a that...(they are not for crossing with your marans lines to be sold as marans) They would be for private layer flock of dark egg (hens are said to not go broody) The color is partridge.

UPDATE: Peafowl are gone.

Wow, all the way from ID. That IS a LONG drive!

Not sure how pricing goes, but my best guess is each person sets their price to what they want, or barter acording to what they are willing to barter for. There's no strict rules or anything, and since the swap is so small, don't think anyone has looked into testing for diseases and state line crossing requirements. It'll have to be up to the individuals who trade birds and so on to quarantine.

The tomatoes are about 2 inches tall and the morning glories are starting to stretch up their arms. Hopefully the tomatoes get bigger and those morning glories slow down!

geebs,

I guess you did not want any of my chicks? I thought we had a trade?

In any case I am very interested in your BLRW!!!!!!!!

I could donate a couple of chicks or chickens for the furthest distance award.

I'm guessing that there will be plenty to eat. I plan on stopping at KFC on my way thru Albany and getting a couple of buckets of extra crispy so all the nuggets can look at us sideways.

LOL at the fried chicken!

RW can have a bumper sticker of choice and I'll save a tomato plant and morning glory if RW wants them. Without birds down here, I don't really have anything to swap chicken related.
