I've been browsing thru the pages of this thread as it seems I remember reading some "how-to's" regarding the swap. Like we set-up in the parking lot at our vehicle right? This will be my first chicken-swap, want to Try and have my ducks, er chicks, in a row! Thanks and looking forward to it!

Ok, here's the definitive list on what I have:

Purebred Cochin eggs - Golden Laced roo over, well, all colors of Cochin hens.

2 week old & 6 week old Ameraucana chicks

One 6 week old black Frizzle

Breeding pair of Polish, one black, one white, 10 weeks old

One Buff Orp hen, 1-1/2 years old (only bringing if someone wants her)

One Australorp hen, 1-1/2 years old (only bringing if someone wants her)

One Golden Laced Wyandotte hen, 1-1/2 years old (only bringing if someone wants her)

One Golden Laced Wyandotte/Golden Laced Cochin hen, 1 year old (only bringing if someone wants her)

Egyptian Walking Onions

Homemade Goat's Milk Soap

Haha, Yes, we have a great fish net and my hubby is rather skilled at catching chickens with it!! Will bring both with me!

I need some help, please. Kristi, who saw the ad on craigslist, is coming but she is new to chickens so has asked for some mentoring. I know she will buy some chickens from someone at the swap, but she needs a little guidance and I'm not really the person to help her with all of it (I don't raise my birds for fryers/broilers). Can someone help her out?


This is her email to me just now:

"I'm pretty darn new to having chickens and need someone to sort of mentor me as to the best egg layers as well as those that develop into large fryers and broilers. also price is a factor for me (as it is for most anyone LOL). I have limited amounts of cash to work with and must select carefully that which will give me my greatest return (eggs, meat) even if it means having to raise them for a while (meat) or wait for eggs (hopefully by summertime).

So I am open to guidance and suggestions! Thank you."
