We had a power outage for about 4 hours and the eggs were fine. My incubator got down to 80 degrees. I say wrap it up well and put it in a warm area. Turn up the heat in house. Do check with the experts on the incubating forum. There are always stories about power outages. Why can't you take them to work and drive slowly? We have a power inverter for the car that we use to charge the computers but I'm not sure if it will work for a fan motor because of the way motors work. You'll also have to look at watt requirements of the 'bator. I do recall there was someone who actually went on a long distance car trip with thier incubator full of eggs in the car. Search it or ask on the forum who it was.

Put some rocks in there now, or jars of sand. They will hold the heat for a while once the electricity goes off tomorrow.

Also, I have a convertor for my car, so if I ever have a power outage, my car is like a big generator, just have to put the bators in it and plug it in (you have to have the big converter, or you'll blow it up though).

Ok, we have a plan but you will probably need to bring a dog box and x-fer him to your carrier. I don't have an extra and Clover will send him up in one of hers. Steve will just bring her's back with him. Mr. Sussex will just hang at my house tomorrw night and leave bright and early Wednesday morning. Did you think of a good exit? He's going to Seattle. I meant that he hates that exit to Gig Harbor in Tacoma. Tacoma is a mess. And are you set with the eggs at the Toledo-Vader exit? I will give you an idea of when Steve will leave SW Portland on Wednesday as soon as I find him. He disappeared somewhere. And email me your cell # and the egg person's cell #.

Yeah, put in rocks or jars of water to act as a heat sink while you still have electricity. Cover the bator in blankets, and don't worry. 7 hours is no big deal in a well insulated inucbator. They will just be a bit slower to hatch out.

There's a starbucks at center drive exit by Ft Lewis. Is that good for you? Or would farther south be better?

Wow I've been gone for awhile, LOL.

We've decided on a cheesecake flavor! Blueberries and Creme cheesecake w/butter cookie crust

I won't be picking it up, but my mother will. Her name's Melanie Hokanson, or her username is newlyhatchedcountrygirl or something like that, haha. Will she need to bring cash?

Thanks

Zoo, I have a black LF cochin hen, she's a year or so old, if you're interested.

Thanks K7. I'm going to think about it this week. Tallyho and I have been going back and forth on these cochins, lol and I'm just beginning to think I am not meant to have them. I will let you know!
