Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Zanna, can you add 1 jar of cream honey for me? Thanks!

Certainly Zoomummzy! If the cheescakes are worth $15.00, I will just bring you $15.00 worth of honey (the creamed is $6.00 a jar), and if you want more when we get there I will bring plenty of extra. Who knows, I may even want another cheescake. We'll see what the Doc says about my Cholesterol at my appt. Monday

Clover, am I getting that hitch hiking roo from you? Email me. I have time tomorrow to get him. Steve is leaving 'at the crack of butt' (as he is so fond of saying) Wednesday morning. I will be in Lake Oswego around 4:30 for a violin lesson. I could meet you somewhere. He can have a sleepover at my house Tuesday night. Hope he doesn't serenade Steve the whole way in the car!

If you cover his kennel or if he is in a box, he should be quite. SHOULD!

Also, if he does not eat breakfast, he will not stink the car out the whole way here. I can bring food for him to eat so he will only have to be hungry for a couple hours.

I do that when I butcher poultry. I let them eat dinner and when they roost at night I stuff them in kennels. In the morning they are only allowed water, no food. That way when we butcher there is less mess and chance for contaminating the meat.

HELP - live way out in the boonies and using a homemade incubator. Tomorrow is day 10 and just got notice we will likely be without power for 7 hours!! Can't take them to work as live on bumpy road 1/2 hour from town and pretty sure incubator will flux too much in and out. Any good threads I can look at for ideas? Any ideas from you guys? Could I warm one of the snuggle (pink disks ) too like 95 degrees and just leave it in the bottom not touching the eggs?
Any help appreciated.

Do you have a gas oven? Even one in a camper or RV will work. I have done this in power outages...

Get a couple thermometers and place them on the rack to see what the temp is with just the pilot light lite lit.

Then if it is over 100 degrees, crack the door till you get the temp steady. Do not put any eggs in there till you have the temp steady!

I have hatched eggs in the oven after they spent 5 days in there! I came home from work and the oven was peeping, lol!

Good ideas. Thank you. At least I have a chance to try. DH will be in for surprise planning. I know they are just mutt eggs but the few I candled this weekend showed veins and was really looking forward to chickies. Here's praying.
