Thanks guys...they are still coming! I lost one in the egg yesterday, and I felt so bad, had I known I might have helped it, maybe, I have a hard time resisting. There are still at least one piping today, still none from the polish mix, so I am thinking they are duds...anyways, will update in a bit and try to most more pics, not that you guys would be able to tell the difference they are almost all grey!

Went prospective digging for spring white truffles yesterday. If we can get a break with this weather I should be able to harvest a few pounds right before the swap

Keep your fingers crossed! I'm really hoping to score a few blacks as well but they're more difficult to find. We'll see what happens!

Ayeup, where do you find the white and black truffles? is it more coastal or just where its damp? any particular trees you find them under? I really need to learn how to do this! Thanks!

Well...you're gonna kill me when i tell you this but I find them in my backyard..... We have forest right behind our property and various spots are ideal for whites specifically. I'm going to attempt to train one of our dogs to help me with the blacks as they don't propagate the same way as the whites and are more difficult to find. We get tons of chantrelles and morels as well. If you have any "newer" Doug Fir forest around you, you're sitting on potential white truffle harvests. We could have a little foraging pow-wow at the swap and I could show you some of the things to look for etc. Or maybe I could just drive down to Scio at some point and meet your gorgeous dogs

and take you around some forest!

Wow this is a fast thread.

So, anyone got an updated list?

Daze, I have 3 confirmed pullets and 1 confirmed cock for you to bring to the swap for me.

If one were to bring chicks, what would be the safest way to transport them when driving more than 4 hours? Is it safely do-able?

Hey Ayeup, that sounds like a great plan!! I will definitely be the *sponge* of the day

Mostly around here, other than a token cedar, are the narrow, thin oak trees, hybrid poplar and cottonwood. Oh, and tons of blackberry skyscrapers

We will have to wait a bit, my litter is now 11 days old and we still have another 8.5 weeks to go before they leave for their new homes. But I bet our new Aussie puppy will enjoy the jaunt once he is a bit older as well.

Wow Ayeup, great suggestion. That Aussie pup (call name Torque after Peter Tork since breeder's theme is Monkees' songs) would probably be great for finding them. My TMs have great noses as well but not so easy to train

I can't wait to learn from you about truffles and finding the delish little devils!
