Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

You won't be disappointed with the bantam Favs...especially for kids. That's what my son's using for 4H showmanship now. The Fav bantam that had never been handled was calmer and better behaved on the showmanship table than the cochin he'd been using for over a year! He used one of our blue salmon roosters for showmanship when his arm was broken and he needed a calm bird that would just sit there too...

How cute! We've been drooling over the pictures! Yes, I think the bantams since my son wants her. Can I have more than 1 if I have room? We're in Multonomah Co but have joined a Washington county 4-H club. A SF might get non-chicken boy interested. Thank you!

What is this all about guys? I'm in Portland and would love a chance to meet and greet with
others in the area. What exactly is a poultry swap and what are the rules?

I'm with you...it is her fault! Lol Cloverleaf I'm thinking about updating my want list too for a few of your Faverolles - LF and bantam. I'll update tonight.

A poultry swap is a place to swap/sell/buy poultry (other animals too - we've had goats in the past) and other items (food, cages, supplies, plants, etc - anything pretty much goes as long as it's legal lol). This thread is a place where we all keep in touch and compile our wants and haves. It really heats up as the swap gets closer. A lot of trades and sales are arranged before the actual day, but there are still lots of birds to buy at the swap as people show up at the last minute from the Craigslist ad, word of mouth, etc. We move it up and down the I-5 corridor - it will be in Canby this time, back in the Willamette Valley in the fall and down south next Spring and then we'll start over again. It's a really fun day and a great way to meet other enthusiasts. We have a pot luck and Silkiechicken brings or sends BYC gear to raffle off and I think this year there was talk of a contest for the most handsome rooster/prettiest hen. It's just lots of fun

Here are a couple links to photos I've taken at the swaps in April and September of this year.
