Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Hey, had a idea, maybe one of us could charge (in chickens)

to man someone's booth to allow them shopping time

Just kidding. I'm beginning to expect such a frenzy that we'll all go home with WAY more than we hoped/planned, ya suppose

or does anyone else catch "buying fever" at these sorts of things.
Looking forward to the trip.

Daze, I think I will make a BIG POSTER on a LONG LONG stake so its 10 feet in the air and has my name on it as well as what I brought. So if I'm not there, folks can take the dedicated bird(s) and drop the cash into a box or something, like so many small local gardeners do by putting their crops out on a table, a cup for money and folks stop by and gather up what they want, pay for it and leave. Honor system I believe?

Also, this may help avert misplaced sales like I experienced on the blue Andalusian rooster I had reserved at the last Albany swap meet and the lady sold him. I understand that stuff happens but maybe by identifying with *vendor signs* your name, the products you brought to sell/person committed to buying it (from the list here) so that someone else doesn't pick it up accidentally? Just thinking out loud which I know is dangerous...thinking part

We need this pandemonium ladies and gents!! In today's world, so much sadness it is wonderful we all have a common love, whether its Seramas, Marans, Wyandottes, turkeys, geese, ducks...critters in general and can have a get together that will be high energy, positive energy and stimulating the economy at the chicken egg level

I am planning on making index cards for my cages with breeds, ages and prices. Then I plan to make name tags that have my real name and BYC handle. Anyone want to join me?

Hooray for my first 100 posts! Thanks for mentioning that daze! I also realized I still don't have an avatar! Better get on that! And I think the index card thing is genius!

Zoo usually bring sticky name tags for us to write our real names and BYC names on...I suppose before I said that I shoulda asked if she was doing it again...??

Anyway, what I have done at the last 2 swaps was put up a poster board with my BYC name at the top and then listed what I had, if it was reserved I put the person's name next to it, and it also had prices listed out for those things not pre-reserved so people didn't have to talk to me to know what I had. That way, if I was out cavorting around, they could see what I had available without having to wait around to ask me. I crossed things off the list as they were sold / picked up. Worked great.

I'm doing the same! In fact, I think I still have the name tags we've used in the past somewhere.....
