Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

I don't know what it is about our swaps but we always seem to luck out. Last spring it was a bit drizzly in the morning but by noon it was sunny...and the fall one, wow, we were cooking lol. Better than drowning though

On another note, I'm adding one more chick to my list available. She is a little 1 week old EE that had curled toes that the feed store gave me. I fixed her toes (they are flat) but one is crooked. It doesn't effect her at all, she walks and runs around just fine, flat footed. The lady who was going to buy her was appalled that I would take such a horrible little chick and insisted they cull her right then and there. I had to

and tape my hands so I didn't slap her upside the head! Anyway, she's a sweet girl and she is free to a good home if someone promises to keep her and not stew her.

Also the last of the cheesecake stuff is being bought this morning so speak up or wait till the swap lol. I went shopping last night for some of it and was shocked when the guy didn't even bat an eye at my 96 boxes of cream cheese

I have some decent looking silkie roosters and cockerels that I am willing to bring but I have someone coming in a couple days that is willing to pay for them for an asian market for eating. So if anyone wants any silkie boys speak up now or they are all going!
I have black, white, partridge, one light splash and blues.

My bird numbers are going down by the day, sell some, cull some etc etc. This is good because they will skyrocket after the swap! he he he

Lol and this was the second cheese run of the baking marathon. Nope, yours doesn't require anything that I don't already have

My fingers are just crossed it comes out ok

You will have to be brutally honest with me because that is the only way I learn. I'm sure it will, I just never know when I try a new recipe.

I bake quite a bit with honey and it works great! I make a pound cake that is to die for!! I am sure it will be fine, but I will be brutally honest with you!

Ooops, posted before seeing this

Yeah, they are somewhere...probably under all the cream cheese boxes;)

Ok you have the nametags, and that's a good idea to pretag the reserved birds but what else should we bring? I gotta make a list so I don't forget anything:

table
chairs
birds
pot luck goodie
our own eating and drinking utensils?
Something to drink?
Extra boxes for all the extra birds we won't be able to resist!

Yep to all those things! Some people bring sun/rain tent things (lol that is the technical term for them). If I have room, I always throw in extra boxes too for people to use for all those impulse buys - not that I would know anything about that!

I would also add to that list small bills for your purchases. It's really hard when everyone has big bills and you are trying to make change.
