Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

Central Oregon Ranch Supply in Redmond just sponsored a tack swap. They did a lot of advertising for it, on the TV and everything.

That's right on the hwy and easy to find. Their parking lot is small, but I am wondering if they own the huge dirt lot behind them? I didn't drive by to see what they were doing at the tack swap.

But the owners there are very supportive of the livestock industry and it would bring in some business for them, too.

I think a park with grass and rest rooms would be much nicer, but keep them in mind if all else fails.

Thanks Oregon Blues. I had thought of them as well as Central Oregon Irrigation and Farm supply - whatever the old feed barn is called! We still call it the Feed Barn!

That's where we get lots of feed and bedding, and their parking lot is a bit larger. I'm hoping the Redmond parks works - I think that would be PERFECT!

If we do have it at the Redmond Parks, I'd like to offer the feed stores to send a rep down with a few bags of feed, shavings, cages, etc. all the things people would buy at a swap! Even incubators, etc would be nice to see there - I know sometimes people bring their own for sale, and that's great, but often there aren't enough there for the demand.

Anyone have camping space so we could invite some of our Valley friends? All my available space has been planted in rocks, and they're coming up nicely! Should be a bumper crop!

I know of several great spots - Central Oregon is FULL of beautiful camping. I also have several friends in the area with land that folks could camp at if they want to.

Also, Keith and I do have a guest bedroom and would love to have a chicken guest over for a night or two surrounding the swap! We also have a couch that isn't too bad, and plenty of living room space as well. I am in Madras, still an hour from Bend, half hour from Redmond, but it's a nice drive!

There is also an RV park right next to the fairgrounds if the poultry swap ends up being there...but that is not very scenic....but it does have hookups. And there is an rv park in Sisters for people looking for places to part thier rv's with services.

There is beautiful camping at Tumalo State Park, right on the river.

The campgrounds in Redmond and inside Bend aren't very nice, but the campground at the fairgrounds is new and modern.

There are at least 2 really nice campgrounds in Sisters.

A friend of mine reminded me of the Grange Hall and the Lady Pioneers Hall in Terrebonne.

They are 1/2 a block off the highway and rent is very cheap. So if everything else falls through for a location. they might do in a pinch.
