I cannot stand "Frank"! He is beautiful, small, upright, pretty buff and Frizzled Serama. He is looking for a new home and probably coming to SWAP with a pullet as a bribe. DH Chris likes him but he loves a few others more so I think I can pry the little "poop" out of the cage and out of here =:~)

Well, I gotta tell you my son's beloved "Binga" (a white silkie roo) is the only chicken I've ever met that I heartily detest! Enough so that I am tempted to make stew out of him. Have any of you ever met a chicken you just couldn't stand? It makes no sense as he is well behaved around humans, there is just something about him...

I kind of have one of those. He is an AM B. When DW goes in the coop or run all is good. If I even walk close to the run he will come running right into the wire trying to get me. We have had a couple sessions and he will do OK for a while and then he thinks he is all tough. I can live with him but trust me (please forgive me Jeanine) but first time he does this to DW it is game over little man.

Oh heck yeah, he goes after Diane, he needs to lose his fool head. My Am B's do that though, they run along the fence as I go by, or a couple have jumped at the fence, but they are all show and no go. As soon as I open the door, they are all nonchalant, like "what?? I didn't do anything?!?" LOL

No when I walk in the run Sambo will come at my feet flogin and spurrin. I just grab him and let his girls see what a w5u09u he is! Then he gets to spend time in my arms keeping me company while I groom him and play with his feathers.

Hmm...I used to have one really naughty cock bird, and I was really worried about taking him to his first show, thinking he would go after the judge. I didn't even know how I was going to get him bathed. So, I brought him inside and gave him his bath. He loved it. Even started falling asleep in the warm water. LOL He was a perfect gentleman at the show, and stayed nice for several months after we came home. He would start getting naughty just before it was time for another bath and another show. LOL

I think the problem is that Sambo sees you as competition, where he sees Diane as one of his "hens"...don't know if there's any way to fix that...

Well see she feeds goodies too. The easy solution is she can take care of that pen and if he gets bad he gets

Hey all!! I'm a researching noob in the Arlington/Ione area. Anyone near me? I'd love to come see your set up and pick your brains. We have no chickens yet, but we're trying to figure out which egg layers are best for us :)

We live in a very windy high desert farm, and we need need a breed okay with not being free range.

We keep going back and forth on trying to incubate for meat birds... but we rent and live near a few of the farm workers. I don't want and early morning rooster calls... but that's down the road. For now, we're focusing on eggs.
