Ok, you guys are all just silly. I mean, guinea math... 3 incubators...what is wrong with you crazy poultry people.
I on the other hand am being quite restrained. I just need to finish my large coupe in the next few weekends. Hmmm, now if I can figure out how to get the chicks out of the brooder and somewhere else in 4 weeks when my ducks hatch and hopefully my ducks from holdereads comes that same week so I can blend those ducks, and if I can get call ducks fertile in the second incubator to transfer to the current one at 10 days of incubation, I will be just fine

Report from the Silverton Hills-2" of snow.AGAIN! I am pretty tired of this now! I will be stopping in at Coastal today and I can not get any more chicks. When my 6 babies grow up I will have 10 hens, and that should really be my limit. I am thinking about getting a rooster, though. We have been very happy without one. I named my last rooster "Stewpot" in case he got to be too much and sure enough he ended up there!

So, the Guineas are my first attempt at raising something to eat. I found a processor near me, so if I can do it with them, I'm getting a turkey for Thanksgiving!
On a bit softer note... I just hatched out my first chicks from my "True" Ameraucana. Her babies will be EEs, with a Mille Fleur D' Uccle or another EE for the daddy..... but these chicks are To Die For Cute. They are cream colored with silver highlights. Truly gorgeous. With big Ol' face muffs! I can't wait to see what they look like!

We need pictures!

Plan ahead.

In May, I am driving from Crooked River Ranch, Oregon to Redding, California and back. I'll be going through Redmond, Bend, La Pine, Klamath Falls, Shasta, Ca.

Traveling south empty, coming north with a box of goslings.

I can transport ducks, rabbits, dogs, cats, packages, whatever is legal and safe to ride in the back of a pick-up with a canopy. Must be crated and I will need to be met at the highway. I can't take the time to drive around the countryside. It's a very long drive.

Sorry, no room in the cab. My new goslings get the passenger seat and they will ride in air-conditioned comfort. (well, I could take a non-smoking human going south if anyone needs a one way trip)
