Waterdog2442! I have 3 two week old Buff Brahma chicks in the brooder from Far West Hatchery in Canby. They are growing fast, most notable, they are the quietest chicks I have had. The week one week Brahma chicks from a midwest hatchery that are in with them are are steady making the usual amount of peeping and cheeping.

What breeds are you looking for? There are a lot of breeders here that can set you up with better quality chicks than you could get from a hatchery if you know what you want.

Holderread in Corvallis. Waterfowl only. That's it for hatcheries that deserve a reference.

Other than that, Oregon and Washington are full of excellent breeders of poultry. In my area there is a good breeder of large Cochins in Redmond, a breeder of bantams and turkeys in Sisters. Me, in CRR for ducks and geese. I know there are several show breeders of chickens in the Bend area, but don't know how to get in touch with them.

There are several show breeders on the coast, not a far drive from Salem. There are good breeders all up and down the Willamette valley and around Portland and Vancouver..

Hi! Since we are only allowed three chickens I was hoping to get a variety. I really want a silkie if I can find a chick available in a couple of weeks, my sister likes orpingtons but we are pretty open to suggestions. We like unique breeds that can also be layers. If you know of anyone who breeds silkies, please let me know! Thanks!

I am already addicted to Canaries and Finches yikes. I will only have three chickens a Rhode Island Red (Rodda), Silver Lace Wyndotte (Chicky) and a Red Star (Penny). I can't help it I name all my canaries and finches why not the chickens as well. LOL!!!! My new coop will arrive on the 12th

. Right now the chickens are in the greenhouse. I live down on Sundown Canyon Rd on the ranch where are you?
