Oregon

Does anyone know of a breeder in Oregon that is raising Dutch Bantam chickens? I'm looking for a like size buddy for my rooster that is in my Avatar.

Poor little guy has a full size hen he follows around all day and I think he believes they are an item. Only time I've seen him attempt to bred her is was comical as he kept falling off and looked more like a rodeo bull rider then a rooster....

Anyways I'm looking for a hen or hatching eggs or straight run chicks.. Anything to give him a few like sized buddies

Thanks :) Good luck with your Roo's as well.
Thank you! I hope to find a taker for one or both soon. They will be 8 weeks old in a few days and this is a great time to change up the situation.
Their only option, here, is to be dinner. Hopefully someone wants a beautiful boy to care for their hens and have a nice life with their flock.
Their Father is a beauty and all his sons are excellent roosters.

My friend Barb has them, but she isn't on BYC, I will PM you her email address. I think that hatching eggs would be the only option at this time...

Hey Cloverleaf Farms, when you're right, you're right. Nelson just saw a wildcat prowling the lower end of the fence for the chicken run. He says it looked more like the bobcat photos we found on the Internet, but he said it was almost as big as our dog (Lab). He fond tracks for it as well as deer tracks down there. What to do? What to do?!?

I asked Dad about bears, which logic says must be in the area. He says he's never seen one around here, never seen tracks either -- and he's been here a long while. He figures they must be in the area even though they stay hidden. There sure are plenty of places for them to hide.

Coyotes have just slipped down my "worry" list ...
Wow! Unusual to catch a glimpse of a Bobcat. http://niteguard.com/

We have 5 roosters in our main flock (60 total birds). Two of the roosters are feather-footed bantams, and it is SO funny to watch them chase the hens and then even funnier when they try to mount one. I keep telling Mr. Ruffles (buff cochin bantam), "That's not going to work," or "Good effort!" as his back end only reaches the hen's shoulders. BUT ... we just hatched out a few eggs from our flock, and one of them has feathered feet! So either Mr. Ruffles or Big Red nailed it! What a lot of coincidences led us to getting that particular egg to hatch ...

I moved my 3 chicks out to the grow-out tractor yesterday. It got a little cold here so I had the 150W heat lamp on all night(timered). But they were up and running around today when I went to collect eggs from the main coop. They will be 6 weeks old in a couple of days.
