So , I have 2 questions today. So I have a duck who had a deformed bill because when she was little she got pecked on the bill by my turkeys. She is like half the size of all the ducks and idk why, does anyone know? What does it mean when a hens breast get swallon and she starts to pull her neck back like she has something in her throat. It almost feels like she has something in her breast. Thx!

So Marge Best suggested I not hatch her eggs and mine together. Her eggs are 4-5 days in already. But she did say I can buy the chicks of these eggs when my hatch day comes to put under my broody. I have her sitting on 3 of my eggs and 4 fake eggs(that is how many chicks I will be getting from Marge). Boy she is a hoot to talk to, and gave me an education on broody hatching eggs. Can't wait for 21 days. And she only lives 3 miles down the road from me. WooHoo

I would be interested in the long term effects of large quantity of alfalfa. I know with horses, cows and goats etc lots of alfalfa has some very bad side effects.
Not trying to be sarcastic here, but fowl are a whole other animal from horses, cows, goats and have differing number of stomachs, digestive process, etc., Pay attention to the things that are touted or not for chickens, ducks, etc for a reflection of the effects.

They always go to my neighbor's $2000 newly lanscaped yard to scrap up bark chips. And last time I brought home new hens they disaapeared and when I found them they were sleeping on my neighbor's $50,000 camaro and left absolutely the biggest pile of chicken poop I have ever seen on his $3,000 paint job.

Needless to say I no longer free range.

sounds like your neighbor needs something else to spend their money on. . .a hobby perhaps, suggest chickens and tell him the better the coop the happier he will be. I would wonder what someone who could afford a $50,000 car would think 'better' would look like?

Why don't you just post your questions, and we can all offer experience / advice. I often have neither time nor patience, but I'll try my best.

I have seen it written before, but I think you are patient as all get out. Get off your back. YOu just don't know how much you help with the right advice! PS I'm gonna steal your avatar, for a quilt square, lol.
