ooohhh, that's a good point...I'm looking for someplace to turkey hunt this year...hint, hint, hint.....

LOTS of wild turkey, I have my permit and the season starts April 15th. You should come down this way Cloverleaf, I would think it would be hard not to get one.

Woods Woman, Yes, I think so to. We have easy access to BLM that is backed by N. Forrest land. Amazing wildlife, great hiking, riding, fishing, ect. ect. I feel very lucky. The house is horrible, and there is a serious lack of outbuildings, but the property is gorgeous, so I can more than live with the rest. I do love D T Portland though. I get up there from time to time to have girls night with a good friend of mine. LOL, how many hens over the limit are you?

clport, I used to live in Gladstone and then Milwaukie. I checked out your website, how much fun is your job?!

My business is a whole lot of fun most of the time. Since the dogs are not kept in cages, but instead play free in groups, they are not stressed so I'm not usually too stressed. However, Spring Break last week was out of control! 17 dogs here!! People are still traveling even though the economy is so wretched, but they just aren't going as far. They still need a place for their doggie to stay, though! We've been really blessed since moving here and starting our business in October '07. Just finished our taxes for 2009 and we tripled our income from 2008! God bless the Portland area dog lovers!

Who cares about the house, I'm with you and it's all about the property. A house can be modified at anytime, that's just a material item, the property is the value. I wish my husband were as much about the country living as I am, but he's a city boy, born and raised right here in Portland. He's always told me he's afraid to move to the country caused I'd end up with more pet...Big pets like horses & goats, oh and of course more chickens.

Right now in Ptld I am over and beyond my 3 hen limit. I've got 5 in the Backyard 22 brooding here in the house, and about 18 eggs in the bator. I'd like to have about 10 or 12 total, just wondering if I can pull it off..not sure how much of an outlaw I want to be. I've been considering the permit, but I dont want to jump thru the hoops, let alone let the county know whats going on in my backyard. My husband thinks I shouldn't worry about it unless someone complains, all I know is I am addicted, luckily I keep bantams, so there not large hens.

I'm in Canby!!! And I'm not sure on what their rules are for chickens. But I know I'm not the only one with them... I've heard them down territorial a couple times!

Our city code is still in the process of being written and they haven't gotten to the livestock portion of it yet. So, we fall under the county code restrictions for anything that isn't spelled out in the Damascus code yet. So, if you look up the Clackamas county code, it doesn't talk about poultry at all as far as I can tell. It talks about "livestock" restrictions, but then doesn't define what livestock is. So, I think you can keep as many as you want where I am. I have 11 girls, no roo. My neighbor has peacocks and I love to hear her male calling his girls home in the evening. Another neighbor has at least two roosters with his large flock. Who knows if we're in compliance!
