Oregon

I expect the whole Four Seasons thing, but I would prefer to not have frozen waterers.

How do you have four seasons here in Oregon? I thought there were only two, rain and construction.

Good news, the local red tail has left the area. Bad news, a bald eagle has followed the steel head up the creek. My older flock will only 'free range' on the covered porch, the younger bunch venture out along the edge of the deck. When the roosters make an alarm call the hens are diving under whatever is closest. Great getting to see an eagle but it is sure stressing the chickens out.

At least the herons are only flying over. Their rookeries are really noisy!

Yesterday my resident crows were busy chasing off a hawk that had come in looking for the little song birds feeding at my wild bird feeders.
thankfully I've never had a problem with the crows.

We also have a pair of sharp-shin hawks that nest in the acrage behind the house. Thankfully my "Snowman" is an excellent watcher and lets the ladies know when they are out and about. I don't push my luck letting the little one out in the spring unless I'm standing there with them.
